Questions and Answers about Recredentialing Forms Faxed to Providers
MultiPlan regularly sends recredentialing packages to our participating providers due for recredentialing. Providers who did not respond to this request received a fax recently asking them to complete their recredentialing forms. This fax was sent from Medversant, a vendor contracted by MultiPlan for this purpose. National Provider Identifier Compliance
Effective May 23, 2008 providers are required to include their National Provider Identifier (NPI) on all electronic claims as mandated by the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA). Claims payers and clearinghouses, both of which are required to recognize only a provider's NPI as the provider identifier on all electronic claims, may reject electronic claims that do not contain the provider's NPI. Although not yet required on paper claims, we recommend that providers include NPI on all paper claims to facilitate processing.
